Gleeson Land has got 2022 off to a great start, winning a planning appeal for 200 new homes in Barnham, West Sussex.  The proposal also includes 7ha of natural and semi natural open space including play spaces, allotments, and a community orchard.

A promotion agreement was entered into with our landowner in February 2020, with a planning application submitted in December 2020 to take advantage of Arun Districts failing housing land supply. Despite the planning application being in February 2021 by the council, an appeal was submitted, and a public inquiry held over the last two weeks of November. The decision was received in the first week of January 2022 with the Planning Inspector agreeing that considering Arun only having 2.63 years of housing supply, the proposal ‘would amount to sustainable development’.

This scheme has had a total timeline of just 23 months from entering the promotion agreement to securing a planning consent which is a credit to the consultant team involved in the project, and all amid the global pandemic.
